TANJIRO KAMADO

Tanjiro's silhouette is built on the black Demon Slayer Corps gakuran uniform layered under his signature black-and-green checkered haori — the pattern is a large, even ichimatsu check in forest green on black, worn open. Around his neck he ties a haori-himo cord. His hanafuda-style earrings (originally sun-motif; anime revisions show a stylized flame) are the single most recognizable accessory and must be visible in any Tanjiro cosplay. He carries a Nichirin katana in a black saya with a dark-plum tsuka wrap and a plain rectangular tsuba — the blade turns water-black when unsheathed for Water Breathing (and later sun-red for Hinokami Kagura). Wide black hakama-style trousers are tucked into white bandage wraps and zori sandals. His hair is a dark auburn/burgundy tousled cut with the distinctive scar on his forehead (round burn early in the series, elongated flame-shaped scar later).

Kimono construction is forgiving; the blade and pattern accuracy are the difficulty.

• →Obi: don't skip — a proper stiff obi transforms the silhouette from bathrobe to character.
